Peter-

The "going to sleep" message sound like it is coming from the monitor -
not the driver.  In other words, the driver is being put into a mode
that the monitor does not support.  

Instead of setting the mode, delete the XRANDR_MODE_0 line and change
the output line to:

XRANDR_OUTPUT_0 = "DVI-0 --auto"

and see if that cures things.
