I'll try posting this here as well
I'm wondering whether anyone have experience using Ubuntu based clients against RHEL 5 application servers? We given up on using Fedora 10 to build client for our client hardware, the X drivers did not work well. Using an Ubuntu client it almost works perfectly (not as well as in LTSP 4.2, but close). The only problem I have left, is to get xkb working. Even using a us, pc101 layout on both the client and as the base in the Gnome setup, I still get xkb errors if I for example ask it to use the right Alt key for compose I will get xkb errors. The setup can easily be tested, in, say an Ubuntu laptop create a .xsession that only starts an xterm, then use this to ssh -Y -l user gnome-session on an RHEL 5 server. Then the same error will show up. Does any of you have an idea as to how one can get the Ubuntu X server and the the RHEL Gnome to work together? /daleif -- /daleif ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Let Crystal Reports handle the reporting - Free Crystal Reports 2008 30-Day trial.
