Ok, that makes sense :-) Better making it work correctly... > > openSUSE-Edu 11.3 available includes all the latest updates Yepp... > >> I also looked for an edu-life, but there is only a 11.3 version and it >> is 32 bit only, as far as I could see. >> >> Why is there no 64 bit edu-life, any special reason for this? >> > Earlier 64bit was required only to use RAM over 4G, now that > limitation is not there in 32bit kernel, so unless there is some other > requirement that cannot be met by 32bit media or someone willing to > work on it there will not be 64bit media. Currently I'm working with a quite normal 32bit Suse 10.3 with a kernel that allows for over 4G RAM. After couple of months of updates initially and later on more and more software requiring qt4 libraries and other modern stuff, I feel it's time to update. Firefox 3 is hell on this system if more than 4 users start it at once... On the other hand, everyone's made themselves comfortable on this system, it will be a harsh cut ;-) But I still don't know if an Edu-life system will be good or the usual Suse with LTSP on top. > > [1] http://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Education-Li-f-e_roadmap > Thank you for the link. The error with USB-sticks is a permament thing annoying students here on my 10.3 system. We never found out why sometimes the stick icon will appear and sometimes it will not. Seemed to have to do with the hardware (different sticks), but then again: my own one was shown for some time, but for some weeks now it doesn't appear anymore. This is one reason I'm looking for a more up-to-date version of system and LTSP. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Colocation vs. Managed Hosting A question and answer guide to determining the best fit for your organization - today and in the future. http://p.sf.net/sfu/internap-sfd2d _____________________________________________________________________ Ltsp-discuss mailing list.
