Like you I also noticed that GitHub is going through a "major service
disruption" at the moment. I guess the best way to track the outage is
through the status page at http://status.github.com/
This outage does highlight the issue of direct downloads from a single
source. Since Hisham is taking suggestions for the next version of the
rockspec format, maybe it would be a good idea to offer a fall back
mechanism for source = { url = '...' } downloads so that if the primary
source doesn't work LuaRocks can fall back to a secondary source?
