I've been working on this, but as I dug into it I realized proper
support for multiple trees has to be made explicit to all local tree
operations. When I implemented --nodeps I had done it in a hackish way
and now the feature was somewhat overlapping with multitree support
(--nodeps is essentially an empty tree list) so I decided to clean it
up. I just pushed a branch so you can check out the work in progress:
