I have a backup script that I run when I have important stuff that I need to save. It uses tar, and so far it works OK. I'm to the point that I need to "split" the file system when I do backups because my system won't all fit on one tape anymore (I use DDS II), but other than that it works fine and has been successfully run from a crontab in the past. If you'd like it, I'll send it to you so you can adapt it to your needs. Ben
