Why don't you login into your MySQL database (assuming that's what you are
running for RT), get into the 'users' table and replace your existing
encrypted password for root with a new one.

I am sure you can find some Linux/UNIX/web utilities to help you encrypt a
password. My guess is RT uses crypt() in the database, but you might want to
make sure.

Better still, you could have no password altogether. I am guessing that
could work :).
