I believe this a draconian way of doing things, infringes on people's rights, blah blah blah... Productivity should be measured against your bottom line; in between, it's easy to catch the rotten eggs and deal with them on that basis. Keeping your eyes glued over someone's shoulder is neither productive to them nor you. You will spend more time and money (install webcams and run them over your Cat-5) and still fail to increase your revenues. Not to say that surveilling staff is a bad idea, it's necessary, even I do it too. However, track them more efficiently using reporting structures, measurable achieveables, KPI's (Key Performance Indicators), and all that management blah blah, lest you end up in a tech-war with your employees, always one step ahead of your traps :). If a member of staff fails to deliver, don't waste time, set them free. Of course, I could be wrong.
