Shot in the dark here , havent tried it ...but i would try something like
this first , if you are doing maildir try and scp or sftp a file to your pc
and right click it and change the format to wordpad/notepad/ms-word , any of
the mentioned progs, you will deffinately have a file with alot of headers
and stuff which am sure you wont want to read but they are part of the file
so, i guess thats what you will have. If that works out fine , what you can
do next is allocate some space on a fileserver or a free box if linux you
can do samba and you transfer the files to a cool dry place. Or you could
change the file format directly off the server to .txt or which ever with
xargs with a -n flag if they are many and you want to convert one by one.

hope this makes some sense

Subject: lug_: Storing mail on CD

Hello all,

There is something on which I need a few pointers.
My mailbox is quite heavy now and I sincerely believe it is time to
relieve the server. However, I would like to keep some of the mails for
future reference on a CD and in a format which is readable by a web
browser or an ordinary word processor.
I have tried googling around but all pointers lead to POP programs
which simply transfer them to another hard disk and in a format
readable only by them!!
I would be glad if you shed some more light on this.
Thanks!!
