The Bankom initiative is still in its infancy because most of the major
players still dont have the element of trust. As such, only four banks
have fully or partially enabled customers to access their funds from any
ATM.

There is some kind of venture here where all banks' ATM can get
cleared by any ATM machine, I think it's called Bankom or something
similar. If there were somehow connected online, we can have the ATM
cards acting as debit cards. I don't think it's still a long way off,
I guess the consumers have to pressure the banks to give more services.

Of course, for some items, f2f is a great idea, e.g.,
cars, houses, or your wife for that matter ;-).
But for other items, e.g., 1GB DRAM Kit, courier might be
the most effective mode of delivery. So some kind of
remote payment system is necessary.
It is also on this basis that trust is built with
individual buyers, and ratings of trust become a critical
part on the UG Mart web site in deciding which buyer to
choose for a specific item.
Mark.
