Hi Ronny
Thanks for your comments in the
absence of any Data Protection law the ISP's use best practice and to
date the industry has managed to work well with the authorities where
these matters are concerned.
On UISPA's workplan for the next
12 month is to develop other position papers on issues like the one you
have raised. These would then form the basis for future policy.
UISPA is also a member of the National ICT workgroup so finally we will
have a voice and these issues will make their way to the national
agenda.

Hello all, this is good content for our nation and I know UCC reads all
this!
Have a question though, I have asked many lists but in
vain. How do ISP's and Telecoms protect themselves incase the
government/High court asks for classified info for any subscriber for
"national security".
"Put it in mind we all need
security and the government has the sole right apart from God to
protect its people"
For instance what if our intelligence services require any one provider
to produce all email communication between party A and party B or voice
conversations between party X and party Y.Who is responsible/pays for
the breach of the privacy contract? Don't ISPs/Telecoms need to be
protected against this flaw to avoid future loses of thousands of
dollars?I hear its a big issue going on in the USA some Telecoms being
asked to pay a compesation fee of $1000 to each subscriber!!
Otherwise good paper though I own no ISP yet.
Regards

Dear UISPA Membership
I wish to congratulate UISPA on
; this step, the document, information and advice, that has been
advanced through this well thought out paper. I am not writing on
behalf of UCC, but as an individual with reasonable interest in the
sector , I have read the paper and knowing how UCC works, it will
certainly study the paper and probably find an appropriate moment to
dicsuss with UISPA.
Once again thank you.
