The mac is slick. If you have the budget, go ahead, lock yourself in. Once you buy 1 Mac, (wether that be an iPhone, flaptop, iPod, etc), you are going to dance to Apple Tunes. And you will bleed for that. They even determine what software you can and can not install on your purchased hardware.
Linux is a lot about freedom. Freedom to use the software that you want. And pay for it what you think its worth. Most people on this list, me included, think that in monetary value, software is worth very little. Work is worth a lot more. So, we pay for work (building a website for example), but we dont pay for software. For this continent, that makes a lot of sense. On a usability note, we use Kubuntu almost exclusively, and nobody in our office is complaining. As Simon pointed out: Start, Office, Office Writer. That is what 90% of the people need. Why pay 500USD for just that? rgds, Reinier Battenberg Director Mountbatten Ltd. +256 782 801 749 www.mountbatten.net Be a professional website builder: www.easysites.ug On Monday 10 November 2008 12:45:01 Markus A.
