wasnt there a /. story a few weeks back that they would handout OLPCs (or 
XO's) in US innercities?

I know they hand them out in South-America and the results are very 
interesting to read about. (sorry cant find a link right now, try google)

I hadnt heard of using macbooks for that purpose. Sounds like kinda overkill, 
IMHO.
