Also, that's where I saw the speed upgrade. After reviewing the
sources, though.. they're all crap. So this may be bullshit.

As far as I'm aware, the TEAMS link will be 1.2

Is this officially communicated anywhere?
IMHO, $100/Mbit/mo is not unrealistic, just unlikely
given that it would be a smart, people oriented business
move.
I think it's unrealistic because:
a) Leased sub-sea capacity is quite expensive. One would
have to be a consortium member or be a bulk purchaser
on IRU to enjoy that price.
b) Onward connectivity is not cheap, as different capacity
operators (land or sea) will not necessarily take your
other half circuit into account. But yes, there are
cases where different capacity providers will team
together to provide a full circuit, but don't be
surprised if the final price is just a double of that
charged by either side.
c) Particular to TEAMS, capacity out of the Middle East to
Europe and North America will not necessarily be that
cheap.
d) While IP prices continue to decline, IPLC prices remain
constant, and in some cases (particularly during periods
of fibre cuts), those prices actually increase. We need
to continue to delineate sub-sea/terrestrial capacity
from IP bandwidth so we don't end up with unexpected
costs.
All in all, US$100/Mbps/month for a full circuit from
Mombasa to, say, London... hmmh, I'm not really sure.
Cheers,
Mark.
