Hi, Cool hosting providers provide you the option to use port 587, which is a port to send emails out authenticated.
I just configured that on the orange network, and that will work. For incoming traffic we configured to use SSL over port 993. Works splendidly. To connect the orange dongle in ubuntu, i guess 2 settings are important: - Number > *99# (which on ubuntu is filled in by default) - ASN: orange.ug On ubuntu that works splendidly. I also tried Kubuntu 9.04, and the modem is detected, but when i create a network connection with all defaults and above 2 settings, nothing happens. (sorry, forgot to take the logfiles off of the machine before it left the office) rgds, Reinier Battenberg Director Mountbatten Ltd. +256 782 801 749 www.mountbatten.net Be a professional website builder: www.easysites.ug On Monday 09 November 2009 11:25:21 Jerry wrote: > One particular problem with Orange is they do not have an SMTP server for > dongo users or for any small resolutions they do not forward SMTP traffic > to other SMTP servers, I always have problems when I try to use my Outlook > to send mail, i try all sorts of globally known outgoing SMTP servers like > smtp.gmail.com & pop.mail.yahoo.com but no success.
