I don't know about that..........This will be for you to say, i usually go by
"ideal" which brings me to the point. Articulate your needs

- Do you need a Network backup system?
- Automation?
- What Media are u storing the dumps on? (tape, HDD)
- Want a system that handles the whole policy? or a cp/rsync works for u?
- And most important, Do you want to pay?

-----Network Backup Systems, these Manage ur policy:- retention, media, hosts
to backup, Optimization, e.t.c-----------
- Veritas (for Money)
- Amanda
- bacula
- NetApp has something fancy that comes with their Storage - not used it though

And can backup any host, and most of the applications you use

----Nothing fancy------
- Tar
- Rsync

Life is the educators practical joke in which you spend the first half
learning, and the second half learning that everything you learned in the first
was wrong.
