I'd like an example of a domain name under .ug that the govt has ordered
disabled.
I already answered this ...but also you mentioned of how radiokatwe.com was
routed by ALL ISPs on orders of government ...you think CFI would disagree
with this order if it were radiokatwe.co.ug??
Joseph, let me ask you this, if its developing our Internet in Uganda,
why
is that most of the hosting companies in Uganda do their hosting in USA?
Why
not focus on something that actually does enhance Internet in Uganda for
example, infrastructure than chasing the .ug around on the pretext of it
This is because it made no sense hosting in Uganda without the UXIP.
But now with the introduction of UIXP, local hosting is growing up ..We
have some
companies offering good and reliable local hosting here in Uganda but ALL
because of
UIXP. We too Jolis are working on a UG DC so soon we will be offering
local hosting..
and you want to compare the US governance to that of Uganda?
Yes, there is a great and close comparison when it comes to ccTLDs
governance in all
countries ..infact UCC would still have to listen to ICANN..
are you sure? look carefully at the history of the Internet in Kenya.
Forced
by the govt to have their organ as the sole route of Kenya. Needing a
license from CCK for every sub-domain of .ke... are you quite sure you
desire this and more that is not mentioned??????
They may have failed in there management, but that doesn't mean we can't
improve
in there failures ...ALSO they are atleast better than us ..they have more
competition
and have registered more .ke(s) than here ..(have better answered this on
I-Network)

I really
do not see what would stop some zealous political apparatchik in the

jeema.or.ug during presidential campaigns...
The above already happens with the current situation ....
I'd like an example of a domain name under .ug that the govt has ordered

In-fact it can better be controlled in the arms of UCC than individual
...
really... the same body that walked into every ISP and demanded that
radiokatwe.com and others be routed to null because of its content. Or
the
very arms in places that be that have continually tried to shutdown
websites
hosting the Uganda Laws for all Ugandans to read??? I'm sorry but this
just
does not add up.
I for one ..I support the government to have control over the registry,
however the registry be RUN by companies like CFI on termly basis for
efficiency...
Just like the current .com / .net situation ...Controlled by ICANN but
run
by verisgn or
any another bid winner based on 5/7 year terms.
and you want to compare the US governance to that of Uganda?
Believe me or NOT Noah, the brighter future for .UG is being run by a
NON
profit
organization ...The main reason .UG is unsuccessful, is because we all
compete with the owner ...
(This doesn't make any sense ...and this is where CFI went wrong)
err....
***At minimum, we need to have what is done in Kenya ...
are you sure? look carefully at the history of the Internet in Kenya.
