I dont understand the analogy of the taxi park, sorry. are you saying

is ok because you haven't told the original owner that you have done
it? Apologies if I misunderstood.

Yes, you misunderstood. I was actually hoping to sign out of this thread at this point however let me try the analogy again:

1. person A does a recording that includes a performance from person B.
2. Person A gives out this recording for free at the taxi park.
3. Person C gets this recording free at the taxi park, stores it and then takes it to his village to place for them at a later date.

Should person C then be taken to have infringed on the IP rights of person B? My view is that the IP issue is between A and B and is not a concern of C who gets the whole thing free. The onus is upon A to have worked out all related compensation to B for using his performance and broadcasting it for free.

On another note: Being that I have never heard any station actually make a copyright statement on their programmes... Does a copyright apply if you do not inform the recipients of your work of the copyright? For example if I buy a book and they did not include the relevant copyright statements that restrict the right to reproduce, share, etc How can I be held liable for doing so when it was never made clear that there was a restriction?

Noah.
