As we speak, I have just managed to trace the route cause of the problem
and rectified it.
SOLUTION:
When the other colleague of mine on the server got me the mail log, I
managed to go through a 538 page log file and determined that some one
was trying to spam the Boss.
When the Boss tried deleting the Spam mails, he unfortunately deleted a
page of mails (100 mails). When I talked to the Big man, he confessed
having tried to deleted some thing but never remembered having deleted a
page of mails.
Checking in the trash folder, guess what!
That is how I have spent the entire day looking at a boring log file! 
Guys going for  Drupal party.... it would have been a nice place to be, but am 
far away from Kampala.
