Please teach me what tethering is.
I am able to do it on my android. Am I different in some way?

It's an unlocked verizon iPhone provided by my job. Investment = 0$.

If the carrier can't tether the option is disabled. That feature is baked
into the os.

I am not interested in a foss vs closed discussion. My droidX and droid2
global also have the same feature. And from my visit here last year I
already know I can't tether with orange and my droid2 global built in tether
app.

I am not interest in jail breaking or rooting my phones. It usually leaves
me with an unstable device that misbehaves at the most akward moments. (like
in the middle of a demonstration of global VoIP server for a potential
client last year)

It was a simple question I asked at 11p since I couldn't start roaming
Kampala streets testing out sim cards on a Sunday night. But now that it's
Monday morning I guess I'll begin my mission.

Limited however, does not support tethering your Internet connection on ur
