My phone recently failed with an interesting message: App "phone.android"
has crashed.

I was mildly amused because until then, I had never thought of the calling
software as being separate from the hardware.
(I know, i know - too many years with a "kabiriti" phone!)

Nonetheless - the realization that calling is now just an app, a piece of
software, like perhaps, the music player was mind blowing!
I always thought "it's an integral part of the operating system, your
honor" as someone once claimed. Now am sure one of you guys can even
download a new calling app onto your phones...

Anyway - I agree with the article especially the fact that telecoms need to
pay more attention to making money off data. And making data more
accessible to the masses at a better price & quality. I have a lot of
teenage/early-20s relatives holiday making at my house and the hottest
things are the facebook app and the watsapp app.

These chaps don't even SMS much anymore and with the exception of some
Pakalast they are only communicating with these new apps.

Kids!

Thanks for sharing, it was an interesting and informative read - which i
enjoyed even more because it is made in Uganda.
Congs!
