It is a tricky issue. She is right to stand up to Linus if she feels this is verbal abuse but I wonder if she should she have tried raising this privately. Worried that Linus might start stepping back and that might result in poorer code in the long run. But then again maybe this is time for that to happen he is mortal after all.
