Hi Stephen, I am using Nylgut on my renaissance lute and my Vihuela with good results. In my opionion nylgut's the second best possible solution for stringing (after pure gut). I am using Nylgut because it provides me the compromise of staying better/longer in tune and a sound close to gut.
Anyhow - on my old renaissance lute it didn't work at all and someehen I was getting rid of trying different tensions until I would find the right tension for this instrument.
