I am no fan of Britten, but in EK's hands is as good as it gets. On that 
level one can afford being idiosyncratic.
I have no problems with his Bach.

He does sound even better live, and I think he is sufficiently peculiar to 
survive that dreaded finacial success.

I am not a purist, as you well know. And I do enjoy a quality product even 
from an enemy.
If we were to conduct a blind archlute test-
we'd be limited to Karamazov and Axel Wolf. I like both of them, for 
diametrically opposed reasons.
