Now, that's not fair! I think it is perfectly
clear exactly what I meant - violinists play an
instrument that is barely one step away from a baby's
rattle. They might as well still be crawling on all
fours considering how easy it is to rub some hair
across a string and draw forth a mellifluous concord.
The thing practically plays itself. Now don't get me
started on the viola da gamba... I'm only gonna say
that I once heard an entire piece of Hume's coming out
of an unmanned gamba just sitting by itself in the
breeze.
*****DISCLAIMER*****
The preceding comments were meant in good fun. It was
by no means the intention of the author to insult,
malign or in any way otherwise offend babies.
(Seriously, I have some limited experience with both
of the above instruments. After a few years of doing
it, nobody wants to hear me play a note, trust me. I
also have nothing against babies.)
