You will need to know what the design of the lute is both for section
(circular, 'shallow' circle, 'deep' circle, eliptical, parabolic ...) and
in length.

Imagine this is a boat, draw three views (side, above, ends-on).  Mark the
length and the above view with arbitrary lines - central axis (keel),
perpendiculars to the axis (ribs).  Mark the ends-on and side view with
horizontal lines.

Now you draw the curves, beginning with the ends-on view, showing the
edges of the ribs.

Go library and look for books on lofting, an aspectof Naval Architecture.

>From the completed drawings you make xerox (Office depot and similar copy
centers have machines that print from roll paper and can do 400% blow up,
your original drawings can be scaled.  The rest is mechanical and obvious.
