As someone who is a slave to Gibson Guitars ( I've four of them ) I think
that this guitar/system is just as ill fated as the L6S of the mid 70's.
It's a novel idea, but if you forget to push the button back in then real
problems would arise. The system also it seems can alter the positions of
the bridge saddles for better intonation, which seems a bit silly as the
bridge saddles are factory set and unless you seriously mess with the action
then there is no need to adjust them. Gibson have lost the plot with some of
their latest products.

Could be interesting if they applied this to the Lute - but would it look
ugly!! - given that the biggest problem IMO is keeping the Lute in tune and
getting it in tune. Even with a digital tuner it can take me up to 40 mins,
mind you I am a rank amateur when it comes to the lute.

Subject: [LUTE] [Lute] Gibson robot guitar

From the Harpsichord list (of all places):

> Gibson is producing a 'robot guitar' - see their site
> http://www.gibson.com/robotguitar
>

"Pull out the Robot Guitar's Master Control Knob (MCK) and watch the
Powerhead Tuners spring into action. It takes only a few seconds for the
Powerhead Tuners to tune the Robot Guitar to any desired tuning. Each
tuning peg is equipped with a tiny but powerful servo motor that kicks
into action once the system is activated. The Powerhead Tuners rely on
the strings themselves to send the signals."
