Does he really? I do not believe he uses unison in the 6th course (and
below) - as neither Dowland himself. But in the 4th and 5th, why not? Or of
course. As the big D did. At least in his old age.
If more power is wanted, why not use the modern "classical" guitar? There
is lots of more power in the basses - not to speak about electric guitars
and amplifiers ... ;-)
I by myself do like strong, wooden sound - perhaps too much and perhaps too
loud. But by using strong touch, "lautenschlagen", "beating"(?) the poor
thing - the lute and its strings, not by using the (modern) guitar
technology...
