What I've been noticing about your fingers and nearly all of the

Well, I don't think I'm a member of the thin finger club. It's actually
an advantage for the right hand to have thicker fingers; it's a larger
surface area on the pad of the finger to get the "sweet spot" for the
best tone. It does mean preferring lutes with a wider spacing though.
Main disadvantage is on the left hand, pulling off a clean Eb major
chord in Ren tuning for example. It's why I decided several years ago
that I was better suited to play baroque rather than Ren lute.
