aha....

   thanks for the compliments :-)

After playing classical guitar most of my life, I definitely cut my
nails when I picked the lute, in 1999.

   Thumb under.

and maybe some guts (not the strings...)

Even if I can't play too well, I try to put my soul in it, to create
   beauty.

I wish some day I could say I could do it.

   thanks again

   Laura

     Hi Everyone,
As Laura pointed out, there are many females on Lute-ning.com that
     play the
lute and several more that have a great interest. I would love to
     see more
females on both lists to even the balance.
It has been mentioned that the flute and harp are considered as
     having
female bias. So what is preventing females learning to play the
     lute? The
one thing that has not been mentioned, most females prefer to keep
     their
nice nails and therefore would find it difficult to cope with a lute
     until
some degree of manicure had taken place.
Perhaps Laura will give some input on this. I have been enchanted
     by her
audio-clips on Lute-ning.com but curious as to how she achieves
     this.
(Let's not get into the nails/no nails debate again). It could
     encourage
more females to take to the lute like they did centuries ago and -
     we'll all
be happy! We're not male dominated - just female deprived!
     Best Wishes
     Ron (UK)
