Aha, so obviously if it was commonly in use by people writing about the music there must be a lot of books prior to 1928 mentioning that term. Could you list just a few, please?

in common use by whom? This style was out of fassion for more than 2
centuries at that moment.

In use by people writing about the music, obviously.
