I prefer an extra seat for the baby. But that can be expensive.

Friend of mine uses his normal lute case, covered in bubble wrap. The
heavy duty variety, two layers. Makes it into a sort of case, with the
handle sticking out, and lid with sello tape, so he can re-use it on
the way back. Of course deliver by hand with odd size/fragile luggage.
Of course be there in person to pick it up from the odd size/fragile
luggage conveyor belt. At Schiphol this belt end in nothing, so your
lute will be pushed from the belt by the luggage coming after it. A
drop of about 1 or 1,5 meters.

My new lute came unaccompanied from Canada in case in cardboard in
bubble wrap. All right.
