Thanks, I might go back to Debian on the desktop machine, now that I've
replaced the motherboard which wouldn't take Debian, years ago. (The
laptop is already Debian + LXDE.)
The ubuntu installer autodetects the partition with the most current OS,
and proposes the older for the install. I might have to pay much closer
attention during a Debian install. (I always keep the previous install,
as a fallback, when taking the new one on board.)
