And I think not.
As a former KDE guy (finally switched all desktops to LXDE) I come from
a well integrated enfironment too and can not say that I have any urges
to go back for the time being.

I have no issue with this and haven't used gnome-settings-daemon so I
have no idea what the problem might be.
WFM.

On Debian Testing and choosing suspend in the lxde-logout thingie works
just fine. It's not as easy as just closing the lid so working towards
an solution for everyone would be good but the functionality is there if
someone wants it.

I have no idea, don't use autostart since many years back and can't say
I miss it.

If we do anything in close of this it should first and foremost NOT be
dependent on either Evolution nor Lightning or any other calendar. It
should in that case be backend independent and they have to integrate
with that solution. A dedicated evolution-aware clock plugin to LXPanel
would be a great thing to develop in cooperation between Evolution and
LXDE that way it will only affect Evolution users.

PCManFM shows the drives in the sidebar, indeed they are not mounted but
clicking on them mounts them and that is sufficient for most people
afaik. Auto mounting just because it's possible is not anything I want
to see. Guess what happens when someone connects an USB hub with a dozen
of drives attached to it, no the user should be in charge of the drives
not the other way around.

Regarding gvfs I have no idea, I donät know what it would add to my
experience of the Desktop, I tend to stick to krusader/terminals for
remote access.

I am no xdg expert but the X options are not standardized and not
supporting them is more or less an expected behaviour.
