This is what I've seen so far from the latest git version.

Thank you for the movable icon support pcman, that has features enough
for me (stick/unstick, snap to grid).

The icons and the background is being reset at every login.

I'm using Debian Sid with libfm from git too.
It doesn't create a ~/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/desktop-icons.conf
This could be the reason why the icons reset their positions to the
traditional layout (messed, btw, in this locale, but that is another
story and doesn't matter as much as them being messed in the filer
window) but there's another factor,
~/.config/pcmanfm/LXDE/pcmanfm.conf is being recreated at every login
so it resets the background to the default (as well as the other
preferences).

Also I just noticed a minor issue that could be improved on the
interface: the icon labels are set by default to Sans 10 (at least in
my 1024x768 screen; I don't know if this is variable) but the desktop
preferences window opens up showing Sans 12.
