Hi, Sorry for the delay, I was away for some days (normally checking nearly all new forum-posts per day). Spammers are now deleted again. We once used a Captcha, afaik. During the last big spam wave (a lot bigger than this) the Captcha was disabled (don't know why?). As I can see now, it's up and running again. I think the Problem is, that some Spambots use really good algorithms, so the Captcha isn't a big deal for them. A custom list of words and a plugin to check registrations for known spammer emails would help. Does somebody have experience with this? As Christoph said, without the Proxy, we would also be able to bann some IPs, which would make the job more easy, as well. Does somebody know why we use this proxy, anyway?
Regards, maces btw: These spambots could be detected by the count of links (no automation, sometime real users do that, too ;)) But for the smarter ones we had (forum related customized text!) the improvements above should be considered.
