My problem with Akismet is that, whenever I've tried it, it's been too
inaccurate. If you're going to use a content-based post filter plugin,
probably best to hook in Spam Karma 2. (There's also an optional Akismet
plugin for it if you'd like it to be used as an additional metric in
calculating the score).

I can't give a representative sample, but it's never had a false
positive OR a false negative on my WordPress blog and the approach
(calculate a score based on all sorts of metrics that, individually,
aren't enough but, in combination, become very representative) is pretty
sound.
