Isn't that the same as auto-hide feature of LXPanel? It can be completely
hidden when not in use, you know.

Well, that is a reasonable feature and it might be already in the Feature
Requests tracker. Although you know, Recent Documents makes sence only on
per-application basis because only that application may know which files
it opened before and applications never report own activity to some other
applications. So if you describe what exactly you want then this might be
implemented.

I see no valid reason for that at all. The menu-cache follows XDG menu
specification and the specification says that items "should be inserted
in alphabetical order". So either all menu items are explisitly ordered,
or alphabetical sort in your locale is reversed, I see no possibility to
have it such way otherwise. You also can clear ~/.cache/menus/ directory
to see if that helps.
