Dear all,
I'm trying to setup Lubuntu on a bunch of oldish desktop machines for a
local non profit and want to make sure they get a consistent experience
across all the installed desktops (at least to start with, if each user
decides to mess around with stuff I guess their business).
When I did this before in gnome/ubuntu I used dconf/gconf to create default
settings in /etc/ that would apply to all users (it was possible to
actually even lock some settings, but I'm ok if that's not possible in
Lubuntu/lxde).
I've looked around at configs and I'm a bit confused by what I found. There
seems to be two main places where stuff is stored:
- /usr/share/lubuntu/openbox/
- /etc/xdg/openbox/
- /etc/xdg/lubuntu/
What I'm hoping to get is that all users will share the same:
- login screen/theme (that seems all down to lightdm in /etc/lightdm, so
I'm good)
- desktop background
- panel
- menu
- keyboard shortcuts
- theme
- virtual desktops
- session logout image
where is the right place to set those things? and is there any way for lock
them? I'd particularly like users to avoid messing with the menu and the
panel.
thanks in advance,
Spike
