Within the past year or so, a couple of the smaller Linux distros have
built/compiled (?) the LXDE packages with GTK3, since GTK2 has been
deprecated.

I do not know if any of the larger distros (e.g. Debian, Fedora, Ubuntu)
are still building/compiling the packages with GTK2.
