Afaik Arch is working on GTK-3. I tested Debian 12 RTC-1, they dont use GTK-3 for LXDE. According to themes/look only Adwaita theme seems GTK-3 and I noticed Gnome apps mandating to use Adwaita (GTK-3/4) instead of System theme (while using different theme). I found this a bit annoying. I personally prefer GTK-2 (I like light weight and simple) but seems Gnome is pushing apps to use GTK-3/+.

so the packages are considered unstable. They aren't actually unstable; just
considered riskier than packages with a devoted maintainer.
