following the recent TRST thread, i downloaded & compiled gawk,
then downloaded & tried to run t2thtml from HT's site:
both versions failed with an error in line 53 or 62 ,
` substr() cannot have zero arguments ' (roughly);
inspection suggests there is an oddity at the end of that line.
i also got TZ' little targz file again. t2thtml is no improvement,
since Lynx still somewhat garbles the resulting HTML,
but t2tgrnet gives excellent formatted versions of the OCAA tables!
this might seem to strengthen the argument
that the route to better Lynx table-rendering is via outside scripts,
but the other conclusion is that all the programming needed
is already there in TZ' work for a C artist to adopt in Lynx,
under the sort of frames-similar set-up i suggested recently.
so TZ gets the immortal fame
& KW can have a ration of ambrosia for having reminded everyone,
but HT will have to take up the challenge of incorporating it all in Lynx
in order to get his place on Olympus (smile).
i have started to see what i can do with ordinary sed & awk
& may continue in the spirit of climbing Everest w/o oxygen (grin).
