I don't like popups, they are too annoying for the advanced user, IMHO
(even if they appear only once).
I would suggest to simply add an option to lyxrc.
Showing a modified Intro.lyx is okay - but it should start with
information, not with meta-information as it does now. Idea: 'Top Ten
things you should know when using LyX'. It's very inviting to the user
to read it, since it sounds very concise. Those should be things that are
not too obivious.
