I think you are looking for trouble :)

I am just trying to improve the experience of the typical user. The typical user won't open a console to launch lyx (ether on Windows, Linux or Mac), he will just double-click an icon. If there is a problem with the sysdir or the userdir, he would have missed this useful information entirely.

But if you don't like it I can enable it only on Windows and Mac.

I like the dialogs but tex2lyx should remain a command line tool.

I agree of course. I'll correct that if you help me a bit.

I didn't know that tex2lyx is using the same package.C.in as LyX. Could we change that?
