For undisclosed reasons... If you find the time it would be nice if you could a bit elaborate on the advantages a user finds in a typical GTK application over a Qt application ;-) > Nonetheless, I would like to mention that apart minor inconveniences, > I am quite OK with the QT4 fronted of LyX. Andre' PS: > [1] http://wiki.lyx.org/Devel/GSoC2008#toc27 "However, bringing the front-end back would also have benefits. Firstly, it would broaden porting options, realizing LyX's potential as a cross-platform app. The cross-platform nature of LyX is especially relevant in connection with "collaborative authoring" in a heterogeneous environment, which already become a no-go if a single collaborator is excluded." That's a joke, isn't it? Ever tried to get all the bits and pieces making up "GTK" up and running on anything that's _not_ Unix and X11? "Also, one could mention that Gnome/GTK is the native environment on some fascinating early-adopter platforms, like the Nokia "surfboard", 770/800 Internet Tablet." And exactly that company seems to have revised its opinions on the relative merits of GTK and Qt lately... Actually, I am tempted to remove that item from the Wiki page completely, but as I am heavily biased in this game I might have to let it live for reasons of "political correctness". What a shame...
