Very good example ! Cmake 2.8 is probably cmake 2.8.8. LibreOffice 3.5 is actually 3.5.4. Python has a minor version number too. Don't you see that it just disprove your point?

Convinced. I thought again about yours and also Richard's argument from yesterday. It is only Qt that uses the full version number in the folder name. You both are also right that these users who prefer to install LyX side by side still can do this by using another name.
So can we agree to use the name "LyX 2.0" as folder name?

You Windows people should decide what makes sense. I'm allergic to spaces in pathnames myself.
