I think you are right here, but I a few times went through the nightmare
of submitting essentially the same paper to a British journal, an
American journal and a Canadian journal for consideration. There were
differences in spelling, figure titles, and bib formats to keep track
of. Kevin has provided some great tools to convert the spelling, and it
appears that natbib covers at least most and maybe all of the spectrum
of bib formats. I'm surely not the only one who has faced this problem,
and I've probably forgotten some of it's nuances.
