Dear list,

I am trying to generate a PDF-file and a HTML-Version of the LyX manuals for
my pupils. The problems which occur are in one case terrific, I must admit.

The reason for these problems is the use of the XPM-Format for the images.
When you convert into PDF a lot of these Pixmaps are dark (such as the
TeX-Button) and nearly without any information. A conversion into EPS or PNG
does not solve the problem really. With EPS you will get the best result, but
Pixmaps like the DVI-Button are soleley white.

Therefore the only thing you can do is to make snapshots of every xpm-file
with ksnapshot to get a really good version of the pics. This is a great lot
of work, of course. For my own short LyX-Manuals I use this *photographic*
version. The result is perfect.

When you try to export a latex file the copying of the images out of that
peculiar /tmp-directory usually fails. But why is it necessary to get into
that giant error message cascade, when you try to export the UserGuide? The
only thing you can do is to kill the whole program to get rid of these
messages.

Regards
Heiko
