Presuming that your printer at home is reasonably good, I would imagine
that the problem is related to the postscript printing support.  Unless
you have a real postscript printer, printing is supported by filtering
throuh ghostscript (not only for LyX).  If there is a font problem with
ghostscript, it can result in poor printing.
