This is a request which has not much to do with lyx. I am writing (using
lyx) a book on biological rhythms which contains about 300 figures.
They are partly diagrams, partly illustrations of plants and animals.
I have drawn sketches or scanned figures from various sources (stored
as .tif files) which I would like to work on with a vector graphic
prg (the diagrams) or a pixel oriented prg. I would like to find somebody
who has experience and can give me some hints in respect to suitable
prg's preferrentially under linux. Since the first edition is in german
and the next one in english, I would prefer a prg which allows to use
layers for the text.
